Ann Hepper Decorative Box, No. 20
Originally from Ireland, Hepper has been living in Florence for over 50 years where she trained in book restoration at the Biblioteca Nazionale Centrale. After working both for Harvard at Villa I Tatti and for the German Kunsthistorisches Institut, in their art manuscript department, Hepper digressed into box making, eager to inject her own sense of humour, colour and imaginative spirit into the bookbinding field. Her boxes have been sold internationally, often bespoke on commission.
The box presented here is part of our exhibition running from 4th - 10th Oct. All boxes purchased online, will be packed and sent out once the exhibition is over, the week of 14th October. Each box is handmade, signed by the artist on the bottom.
This box is covered in paper made by the infamous and now sadly defunct paper marbling company Douglas Cockerell & Son.
