Visconti Italian Fountain Pen Ink bottle, 60ml
Visconti began in Florence in 1988, started by two friends who shared a common interest in penmanship. Whilst the city is known for its rich history of art and culture, as well as jewellery, leather goods, and other luxury items, it had not yet embraced pen-making - the founders, Luigi Poli and Dante del Vecchio, changed that. Their first year, a collection of celluloid pens, aptly named 'Classic', was so successful that within their second year of production, the company had expanded into dabbling in Japanese lacquer techniques such as urushi. With another great success, the Visconti brand continued to grow throughout the 90s and 2000s, with their distinctive bridge-shaped clip arriving before the new millennium, to honour the famous Ponte Vecchio, the symbol of Florence. In 2013, they added a line of watches, in collaboration with local artisans.
While the contents - high quality, highly pigmented fountain pen ink - are excellent, the real allure lies in the bottle's design. This unusual shape has a dedicated function; it is designed so that one can reach the ink, all the way to the end of the bottle's supply. The acrylic glass case over it also has a purpose - simply place the bottle in the upturned case to make a more stable base to fill your pen from (and to catch any potential spills)!
Available in six shades - black, navy, turquoise, green, red, and sepia - please select from the drop down menu above.
