Terry Triple Pen Clip

£7.50

Known to be worn by nurses and scientists, this triple pen clip insures your pencil against loss or prevents it from slipping out of your shirt pocket when leaning over. It can be used for small hand tools and attached to brief-cases, pockets or notebook covers.

Established in 1855 Terry, first trading under the name 'Herbert Terry & Sons' operated out of a terrace house shed in Redditch, Worcestechire and soon declared itself both the 'House of Clamps' and the 'Spring Specialist'. After working overtime during the first world war with the moto 'war work first' the company expanded beyond its usual manufacture of industrial metal springs and clamps to more profitable finished products. The sprung bike saddle and watch carrier clips, the anglepoise mirror, the sculling exerciser, the lever letter clip and more famously the Anglepoise lamp were added to the factory catalogue from the 1920's onwards. The company archive reveals the pen clip to be older - around 1910. Today it is manufactured in Oxfordshire, where Terry, now part of a Swedish multinational company, has built a larger plant. Until 2006 Terry  had been a family owned and run business.
