We are often asked about creating 'calligraphic effect' using fountain pens. To that end, we recommend using a dip pen - in particular this Japanese, very soft and flexible nib. It is used widely by manga artists and illustrators, and is capable of razor thin lines on one hand (when no pressure is applied) and gives wet and bold strokes when pushed down on verticals.
We recommend this nib for learning and practicing calligraphy, both for so-called modern calligraphy and more classic Spencerian writing as well.
